Nakasendo

The old inland road, walked in sections, before the maples become a crowd.

The Nakasendo is not a trail you complete for a badge. We walk the stages that still feel like a road between towns: cedar, stone, one dinner at one time. Luggage goes by van. Kyoto is an ending, not a checklist.

Late October, shoulder season, when rooms in the post towns are still available.
